Together for inclusion

On February 16, 2026, Straight From The Heart International, Inc. joined stakeholders at a national meeting hosted by Liberia’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to advance inclusion for autistic individuals and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Community experience, advocacy and policy

Connecting community experience with advocacy and policy, participants examined barriers to healthcare, education, and social participation, including stigma and the challenges facing families and caregivers. Key recommendations included integrating Autism and IDD screening into primary healthcare, strengthening inclusive education and teacher training, developing community support networks, and expanding economic support for caregivers.

A shared vision

The meeting called for the explicit inclusion of Autism and IDD in Liberia’s national disability policies, data systems, and resource allocation—advancing a shared vision of dignity, acceptance, and opportunity for all.
